I graduated from the Hellenic Organization of Small and Medium sized Enterprises and Handicraft (EOMMEX) with a diploma in fine binding. I attended bookbinding, paper, parchment and book conservation courses in Centro del bel libro in Ascona, Switzerland.
Work experience
In 1988, I was employed by the General State Archives in Corfu, Greece, where I was in charge of the book and paper conservation department. In 2000 I set up my own workshop where I carry out traditional and contemporary bookbinding as well as gold toolin
Memorable notes
In 2009 I was a member of an international team of the Library Conservation Project at St Catherine Monastery, Mount Sinai. Our main focus lays in the surveying of the Byzantine bindings and the packing of the collection. All this was within the context

I have taken part in many bookbinding exhibitions and competitions in Greece and abroad and received numerous prestigious awards in international competitions. 1st Price (gold medal) Rang Creation at the International Competition of Artistic Bookbinding

Can you describe your workspace?

Location, place, atmosphere

My workspace is the place where I spend the most hours of my day. It is the place where I can be inspired and productive. It is full of light. I love my old heavy machines and tools that were used from professionals for over a century. My workspace says about me that I am devoted to my profession.

Why are you a binder?

History, personal attachment

I’ve always been inclined to make things, to work with my hands Since my childhood I was a book lover and through bookbinding I found the way to combine my passion for books and the need to express my creativity. What amazes me is that there are endless possibilities of creation through the techniques and materials of a book.

Which work represents you the best?

Personal, preference

The book Eleanors Advent. It is an exposed sewn, experimental, the cover is three dimentional nevertheless flexible and durable. I could place it with my metalic books although I haven’t used metal, only paper and parchment treated with graphite and silver blocking foil. Working on this binding was an self exploration.

What techniques are you specialized in?

Field, specialization

I have gained a substantial experience in both contemporary and traditional techniques in bookbinding, bookconservation and paper conservation. I am specialized in book structures, historical bindings, paper decoration, edge decoration, gilding, foilblocking, metalwork and papermaking.

Why are you so good at that specialization?

Experience, unique qualities

I am extremely patient and a perfectionist, I don’t give up. I like to apply the knowledge I own from various fields onto my work. I feel satisfaction after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded my best.
